2014 Telethon (2)

Last year, Kirk VandPol’s 40th Birthday inspired us to hold our first annual COTP Telethon. 40 for 40, as we called it, was a push to raise $40,000 for a new van that was sorely needed in Haiti. Over the course of the day, we encouraged all of you to call in a donation or pledge toward this need. Our missionaries, Haitian employees, and even a few of the children took calls in Haiti all day long. We were amazed by the outpouring of support, and that we were able to raise the 40K all in one day!

It is rare that we get the chance to connect so many of the members of the COTP family all in one day, so we decided to make it an annual tradition. We invite you to join us on September 15th for the 2014 COTP Telethon:  15 for 15 for 15.

This year, we plan to focus on the number 15. 2014 marks the 15th year that Children of the Promise has been in existence as an organization.  One of the things we are most proud of in our 15 years is the number of Haitians we have been able to employee through our ministry.  Our goal is to raise $15,000 through the telethon, which is the amount we pay each month in salaries to our Haitian Employees.  We plan to highlight 15 employees on the day of the telethon so that you can get to know some of the people who are so important to us on the ground.

COTP currently employs over 100 local Haitians in a variety of roles including administrative leadership and management, social work, legal counsel, nursing, child care, facility care, construction, and education.  We are blessed to be able to partner with so many individuals who are passionate about serving Christ through this ministry in Haiti.  Several of these employees have been with us for nearly 15 years!

In addition to raising funds through the Telethon, we hope to offer you glimpses into the lives of each of these employees who mean so much to us.  We will be highlighting an employee or two each hour.  During that hour, that employee will also be helping us take calls, giving you the unique opportunity to thank and bless them yourself.  We’ve paired each employee with one of our missionaries, with whom they work most closely.  That means you’ll also have the chance to talk to one of our missionaries if you call in!

Check out the following schedule for our event.  Find an employee or missionary you know and plan to call in during their hour!
