COTP Vision: A New Standard

Children of the Promise has been serving, ministering, and loving children and adults in Haiti for over 10 years.  The vision from the start has been pretty simple: Bring help to the helpless.  The process is rarely clear, easy, or pain-free. God has enabled us to save hundreds of lives of infants and bless thousands of lives in the process.  Through incredible support and God’s grace, COTP has built and sustained a beautiful compound and facilities, an “oasis” in a harsh environment.  Visitors often comment that it is one of the nicest infant and child-care facilities in Haiti, immaculate by Haitian standards.

Recently, God has been stirring the hearts of those leading COTP, pushing us to evaluate every aspect of what we do and who we help.  We have asked the question, “By what standard is our ministry measured as great?” An unfortunate fact of third-world missions is that they are often measured by a lower standard than they would be in the developed world.  “Good enough” is often seen as an acceptable, even exemplary outcome.

The vision for our next 10 years in Haiti is to set a new standard.  We believe children deserve “the best” no matter where they are born.  COTP still believes that there is no replacement  for a healthy, loving home; and it will be our goal to help children unite with healthy homes as soon as possible.  While in our care though, we will seek to provide a loving, supportive, home-like environment to help ease the transition.
