Employment

Although our first focus is the babies and their families that we serve, another big part of our mission is employment. Currently COTP employs over 80 local Haitians to help provide the all around care for our babies. Each and everyone of our employees is a true asset to COTP and we would not be as successful in our work with out them. They constantly pray for our children and international staff. They are amazing Christian people who are trying to help ensure that the infants in Northern Haiti have a good start to life. It’s a blessing to watch the way they love our babies and the care they provide for them.

We have several types of positions in which one can fill.

Nannies: Our nannies work 24 hour shifts, from 8 am to 8 am, 3 days a week. The nannies are in charge of taking care of the children’s basic needs such as feeding, changing, and bathing. The nannies sleep in the rooms with the children and get up with them in the night. In our special care rooms the ratio is either 1:1 or 1:2. In the Giraffe Room our ratio is 1:2 and the rest of the rooms our ratio is 1:3.

Cooks/Cleaners: We have a staff of ladies that cook our food and clean all of our facilities. They cook 3 meals a day for the children and 2 meals a day for the volunteers and Haitian Staff. On an average day they make about 250 plates of food!

Laundry Ladies: We have four laundry ladies that work for us everyday. They wash all of the kids and volunteers clothes, blankets, and diapers. They work incredibly hard and always have a smile on their faces!

Yard Guys: We currently have 4 yard guys that work for us. They do all the maintanence in our compound, which varies from fixing vehicles, taking out trash, painting, laying side walks, taking care of the garden and farm animals, and much, much more.  In addition to helping with projects around our facility, they are also our drivers and help with supply runs, transporting kids to their appointments, and whatever else we throw their way.  They are incredibly skilled and are more than willing to help out in any way possible!

Adoption Workers: We have three Haitian attorneys that help us process all of our adoptions. They also help in the admit process of or new children.  They work tirelessly to try and process these files as quickly as possible so that the children can go home to their new families in a timely manner!

Program Directors: A few of our employees help us run our formula, prenatal, and school sponsorship programs. They help teach us about the culture and how to relate with participants in our programs. We would not be nearly as successful with out these amazing people.

Management: We are also training several employees who have worked for us for years to take on a leadership role at COTP.  We are in the process of training a Haitian Nursing Assistant, a Child Advocate Worker, and a Database Entry Expert!  Some of the training we are giving them includes basic computer and English skills!  They are doing an amazing job and we love working alongside of them to help fulfill the mission that God has called us to here a COTP!
