ZoeMy name is Zoe Sleasman and I am 10 years old.  I am writing this so I can SPEAK UP for the kids with special needs who live at Children of the Promise and in the world around me.

I want to be a physical therapist when I grow up and COTP is one of the reasons why I want to do that.  But before I ever heard of COTP I had a friend named Will who I knew from school and church.  Will has autism.  I would always say hi to him.  He could not talk but he still knew it was me.  He was in a special needs class.  I would go to the class to see him and all of the other kids.  Will is one of the reasons I want to work with kids with special needs.

Mommy and I got to take care of Isaac while we were at COTP.  He has hydrocephalus and when I first saw him I thought he was not very cute.  Close to the end Isaac changed my heart.  Close to the end he made me realize that he was just a regular boy with a few extra special needs.  He laughed, he smiled, and he followed me with his eyes.  I did not want to see him go but I knew he was going to somewhere good.  I also have another friend at COTP who has hydrocephalus.  His name is Bonnet.  When I first met him in March 2015 he could not hold up his head and when we saw him in October 2015 he was still not able to sit up.  But, now he is crawling and sitting up and using an adapted walker created by a physical therapist.

In Ohio Mommy and I volunteer at Challenged Champions.  It is a place where people with special needs ride horses.  They have lessons on horses to help them reach their physical goals.

I am really excited to visit COTP again!  I hope I am able to work with more kids with special needs.  The kids at Children of the Promise have helped me know what I want to do when I grow.  These kids with special needs are very special to me!
