Ministries
First and foremost, Children of the Promise strives to glorify God through all our work in Haiti. Our ministry focuses on serving infants in extreme situations, a clear calling that is given throughout the scriptures. Our approach and attitude toward caring for these infants and making tough decisions about their situations is rooted in our faith in Christ and in the Bible. We seek to share Christ’s love with each infant and child in our care. It is the one thing that makes us a ministry, rather than an aid organization.
Since sharing Christ’s love is at the center of our mission, it permeates everything we do: every decision, every program, every interaction. The opportunities to share Christ’s love in Haiti are endless and we have the opportunity to see Christ work through us each day. Here are a few examples:
Nanny Prayer and Singing: We have an incredible Haitian staff from our surrounding area. Twice
each day, morning and night, our staff leads our children in a time of prayer and singing. It is a time of prayer and praising God, blessings and preaching. And it is all done in Creole.
Godly Relationships: Children of the Promise offers a unique opportunity for international volunteers to nurture Christ-centered

relationships with the people of Haiti. Our volunteer staff works along-side the Haitian staff with a common goal of saving and nurturing the lives of infants. It is a chance to sweat together, serve together, laugh together, and suffer together. The relationship usually changes each individuals for the better and brings each closer to Christ.
Showing Compassion: Because of the intense poverty and need that surrounds COTP, our staff is faced with many requests for help each day. These requests range from help for infants, to medical assistance, to financial and basic needs for individuals in hopeless situations. Reality is that we can only do so much. We can only take in and help so many infants. We can only distribute a certain amount of aid. Our staff is forced to say no often even though nearly all requests are valid. Realizing and enforcing our limits is a painful part of our work in Haiti. However, one thing we can offer each person who passes through our doors is compassion. Food and money can only address physical needs, whereas God can use compassion to heal the soul. We can listen, express our care, and let God make a work. We believe that with God, people will always leave our gates having received something, even if their hands are still empty.
