Children of the Promise has been blessed to have Kirk, Christina and family serving with us on the ground in Haiti for nearly 4 years!  During this time, God has grown and flourished our ministry beyond anything we expected.  The Vander Pol family has been and continues to be a key piece to the work God is doing through COTP, in Haiti and beyond.  We are tremendously grateful for the efforts and sacrifices of the Vander Pols over these past years, and look forward to many years to come.

We are pleased to announce that the Vander Pols will be spending the next year living in Central Minnesota on a home assignment with the intent to return to the field in the Summer of 2017.  Home assignments (also referred to as furloughs) are common and crucial for most missionaries every 3-4 years of serving in the field.  Serving in a cross-cultural environment full-time is a beautiful and taxing experience.  We look forward to the Vander Pol family getting a much needed break from the field to refresh and refocus.

In addition to taking some time off to focus on rest and refreshment, Kirk will continue to work for COTP.  In the past year, Kirk has transitioned into the role of Development Director for COTP, which he will continue during his time in the states.  Kirk will also continue to work with volunteers and will likely take a few short trips back during the year.  Christina will continue to work with our adoptive families as children transition home to their forever families. Julien, Noah, Elijah, Natalie and Rose will be attending Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg, MN.  Our prayers go out to the Vander Pol family as they experience this time of rest of renewal!
