New Admits

Its been a while since we have been able to update on all the new babies that have come into our care. We’ll take a few moments to introduce you to our newest members.

Jacob – Sweet Jacob was born on June 11th of this year. He was abandoned at the local hospital. He has done very well since being in our care. Please pray Jacob continues to do well  and and stays free from any sickness.

Jacob

Micah  - Micah was born at the hospital in Grande Rivieria and then brought to Milot by an unknown person and abandoned there. He stayed at Milot for three weeks and no one ever came back for him. Shortly after being admitted into our care he became very ill. One of our favorite pediatricians was in Milot at that time, so Sheila consulted regularly with her. Still Micah kept getting worse. He eventually passed away. We are not sure what he had.

Micah

Jamesly – Jamesly also came to us from the hospital, but he was in their nutrition program. He wasn’t doing well in their program and was still losing weight so his grandparents brought him to us. Shortly after being admitted here, he passed several worms, which explained why he was so malnourished at 15 months old.  His parents are very young and just had another baby so they need some extra help.  For the first 8 weeks he lived here he ate Medika Mamba which helped him return to full nutrition. We are pleased with his health and growth and are happy to announce that he will be reunited with his grandparents in a few days!

Jamesly

Bilandine - Bilandine was 7.5 months old and weighed less then 9 lbs when she was admitted. She was very fragile and spent the majority of her days at the hospital after she was admitted. We are very saddened to say that she passed away less than a month from coming into care.

Bilandine

Monel – Monel is a 4 year old little boy with special needs. He had been in our MM program and seemed to be doing well. His Mother had come back to our place looking for his appointment but before we could attend to them at the gate, they had turned around and abandoned him outside our gates. His father heard he was abandoned here and immediately came out to see what he could do. He has asked for us to help him for a time being while he looks into getting help to care for Monel. He seems to love his son very dearly. Monel is adjusting well in our care and such a happy and smiley little boy. He knows how to sit on his own and loves to interact with others!

Monel

Fadline – Fadline was referred to us by one of our nannies. His mother is very young and has 4 children of her own with no help to raise them. Fadline was 7mo at admission and only weighed 5lbs. His mother does love him very much and would like help for only a short time while we get him over the hump of his sickness and fragile state. We hope he will be able to reunite with his family very shortly.

Fadline

Fritz Lande – Fritz Lande is 2.5 years old. She had severe kwashiorkor (which is a form of malnutrition where the body retains the water) when she was admitted and was so swollen she could not even open her eyes. She had sores and bruises on her body due to the swelling. We are very excited to say that she has made tremendous improvements since being in our care and has lost a lot of her “water weight” and is no longer so swollen. She has also relearned to walk which is very exciting! Please pray she continues on the right path and starts to gain healthy weight soon.

Reyima – Reyima is a sweet little girl with a unique situation. Reyima was abandoned at the local hospital when she was just 3 months old. A doctor had some family who really wanted to adopt a baby and they had been caring for Reyima until she came to us. This family had Reyima for a year and has learned she has some sort of special needs and are not able to fully care for her in Haiti and want her to have the best chance possible. She is 15 months old, but can not sit, crawl, and barely hold her head up. She has seizures and we believe is mostly blind. However, this beautiful little girl has been very loved. We will be doing as many tests as are possible in Haiti and hope we can figure out the best future for her possible.

Reyima

Annabelle – This little princess is only 3 weeks old. She was brought to the hospital by her mother who then referred them to us. She is very tiny, but seems to be doing well and has a strong suck. Please pray that she is able to gain weight steady and stays clear of any set-backs and sicknesses.

Annabelle

Loudena - Loudena was readmitted to COTP this week after spending the last four months at home. She lost 3 lbs and wasnt doing well there. Please pray for her as she readjusts to life here and for her grandma who tried so hard to care for her.

Lele – This sweet boy came to us just today. He was sent to us by IBESR and was abandoned in a neighboring town’s hospital. He is 6 years old and seems like he may have some sort of special needs. However, he can walk, talk, and express his needs. Though he is fairly hard to understand he is such a sweetheart and already has fans in the baby house.

Lele

Naika – Little Naika came to us today with her Great Grandmother. She is struggling to care for her and has no where to live with Naika. Her mother left about 7 months ago, but comes to visit from time to time. Naika lives in a very sad situation, but we pray she will really feel loved in our care and that her Great Grandmother can find her mom and make a decision that is best for Naika.

So many new little ones in our care and so much going on. Please be praying for every one of these children as they settle into life at COTP.

Thank you for the updates that are provided. Our family prays for COTP daily. Are there any updates regarding the tropical storm that just passed across Haiti? We pray that COTP has no damage to any facilities and all of the children and staff were strong through the storm.
