Rachel is from Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan University with a degree in Special Education and a minor in Psychology. Since a young age, Rachel has wanted to be a special ed teacher in a country where special education is not available to those who need it. Prior to moving to Haiti, Rachel took any opportunity she could to work with children with special needs. After a 3-month trip to Madagascar where she taught English to street children, she knew she wanted to pursue a long-term position working with underprivileged kids in a developing country. In July of 2017, Rachel came down for a visit and immediately fell in love with Haiti and all of the wonderful kids at COTP. She made the move to Haiti that next November to serve in the role of Special Ed Teacher.
