Seth and Melissa are from Sutton, Nebraska. Melissa first got involved with COTP back in 2000 when she visited with a group from Dordt College. Melissa continued to visit COTP with Dordt teams until she graduated. Post graduation, she continued to make trips on her own during summer vacations while teaching. In the summer of 2012, Seth and Melissa made their first trip together. After those two weeks in Haiti, they both felt God calling them back to Haiti for a longer term stay. Both have experienced many short term missions trips around the world and in the States, and were eager to make Haiti their home. The couple moved to Haiti in August 2013 and began their roles as serving as Foster parents for the children in the Joy house. Since becoming house parents in 2013, Seth and Melissa have cared for a dozen children in their home. They have seen multiple kids go home to their forever families. They love being able to pour into these kids’ lives when the kids need it most. While it is bittersweet to see kids go home with their families, it also brings much joy to see how perfectly God knits together these families. They enjoy watching the kids learn and grow physically, but their hearts soar when the kids finally learn to love and trust.
