The Hague Convention was Ratified in Haiti.
As many people who have kept up with Haitian adoptions will know that talks of ratifying the Hague Convention has been going on for some time now. Please do not worry! We do not know what this will mean for current or future adoptions. Everything is only speculation at this point and it only makes things worse when you create a panic among each other. We will continue to post as we get information.
One thing that we have known is that the ratification was inevitable. We had no idea when it would happen and still do not know what it will mean. We continue to pray and trust God for the future of these children in Haiti. Regardless of what happens, we have many many infants and toddlers that need our attention and continued care.
What we do know is that the director of IBESR has shown she has been trying to make a lot of changes in IBESR and even closed its doors to new files for a while to try make these changes quicker. We pray that during this time they are able to make any necessary changes needed now that the Hague Convention has been ratified. They have 90 days to comply with all that is required.
Please pray with us that these changes are all for the best, that the children in Haiti will not be stuck in limbo for an undetermined amount of time. We know God is in control and will believe that things will look much better for Haiti’s future.
